Key Issues

  • For too long, the Court house has operated at the convenience of those on the bench and law enforcement.  The public is forced to come downtown at inconvenient times,  wait in long lines, and linger in crowded courtrooms waiting for their cases.  This approach is expensive for professionals and inconvenient for the public.  Sarah will work with her fellow Judges and build upon some recent changes to ensure the Courthouse is truly doing all it can to truly serve the Public by considering expansion of hours, alternative locations, and staggering dockets.

  • Judges are human and carry inherent biases.  While every case is unique, Sarah will insist on tracking her decisions and sentencing ranges.  Sarah will use this information to help inform her biases and ensure she is following the rule of law.

  • Regardless of someone’s background, Sarah will treat them with the dignity and respect that all people deserve. In Sarah’s courtroom, everyone will be treated equally and given the opportunity to seek justice.  Courthouses are stressful places for everyone, and too many people are strong-armed into participating.
